Icelandic skyr [pronounced skeer] is a cultured dairy product specifically from Iceland. Not only is it thick and creamy, but it is also high in protein with vitamins and minerals.
In search for some yogurt I decided to steer away from the more popular and basic yogurts like Chobani and went for something I've never tried. As I was going through the yogurt section I came across siggi's, and what caught my eye right away was the word Icelandic. Having been to Iceland before I was down to try something Icelandic, and well, maybe I was also just missing my Iceland trip and wanted to feel connected to the country. Either way I went ahead and bought the Icelandic cream-skyr whole milk yogurt with honey. Since trying that specific siggi's yogurt it's become my favorite go-to to buy at the grocery store. Just recently I've tried the vanilla nonfat yogurt which wasn't as silky smooth as the whole milk honey version, but still good. So if you find yourself at the yogurt aisle of the grocery store make sure to pick a siggi's up and give it a try.
