Iceland + Toronto Layover: September 2018

For my birthday this year I knew that I wanted to travel somewhere outside of the U.S. and after doing some research I came across some affordable airline tickets to Iceland! On a spontaneous decision before even planning the details, I bought tickets to Iceland and convinced my friend to come with me. The tickets that I bought included a ten hour layover in Toronto, which I was excited for. The layover in Toronto consisted of us eating some poutine and walking around, exploring Toronto. Just from that short time in Toronto I could tell that it was a place I can see myself possibly living in, so there will definitely be another Toronto trip in the future!

The real trip started when we landed in Iceland. It was nice to get away from everything and really take in all the beautiful nature that Iceland had to offer. The breathtaking views, majestic waterfalls, unreal black sand beach, awe-inspiring northern lights, and magical Blue Lagoon. Taking this trip to Iceland really made me want to travel even more and see what else is out there. Iceland is definitely on top of my list of favorite trips. I know that planning this trip required some research and asking for tips from people I knew had already travelled there, so I've written out some tips on traveling to Iceland below.

Places I visited:
Golden Circle (Thingvellir Park, Geysir, Gullfoss Falls) / Skogafoss Falls / Reynisfjara (black sand beach) / Southern Iceland (we saw the Northern Lights) / Vik / Reykjavik / Blue Lagoon
Tips:
  1. No need to take out cash - they accept credit cards
  2. Rent a car - most places that you're going to want to visit are at least an hour away from each other
  3. Don't buy water bottles - all of Iceland's faucet water is safe to drink...and refreshing
  4. Eat the hotdogs at their gas stations if you're trying to save money - they're actually good especially with the fresh & fried onions
  5. Book the Blue Lagoon ahead of time if you're planning to go - it's not free but worth the money in my opinion and you can stay for as long as you want
  6. Paying for bus tours isn't necessary if you're renting a car - we were able to go and see all the places we wanted to without paying
  7. You'll be able to see the Northern Lights (during the months that they're visible) if weather and everything else aligns, just go to an area that's pitch black and you're bound to see it - your phone won't capture exactly what you see in person (having a dslr camera might though)
Essentials to pack:
European adapter plug / reusable water bottle / water resistant jacket / hiking boots / hiking socks /

Los Angeles, California: September 2017

The kind of trip that was much needed to get my mind off of life obstacles that we all go through. LA was a great getaway with pretty views and delicious food. My favorite part? Hiking at Runyon Canyon and being in Venice Beach at night. This was also an early celebration for my birthday so my friends and I did check out the LA nightlife, which was a good time!

Playa del carmen, riviera maya - mexico:
august 2017

A family filled vacation at an all-inclusive resort resulted in lots of eating, drinking, and soaking up the sun.

Favorite day: Excursion outside of the resort that included cave exploring, snorkeling, zip lining into water, and cliff jumping!

Nyc: where the best memories are made

New York has always had a special place in my heart and will always be my favorite city to be in. A city filled with opportunities, endless food options that never disappoint, late night adventures, and a vibe that can't be put into words. I have withdrawals every time I leave this city.

Oahu, hawaii: summer 2016

If you ever get a chance to go to Hawaii, take it! Everything about this place is amazing! The vibe, the weather, the people, the food, the culture, the views. Having a week long vacation in Hawaii felt life changing, and even caused me to think about temporarily living there. Being in Hawaii put me in such a serene mood and had me smiling and appreciating life everyday.
